- Whitetail Deer live in (often overpopulated) wooded areas. Their abundance makes them the main source of venison in the United States.
- Whitetail Deer live in matriarchal herds. Whitetail bucks are solitary creatures, and only join the herd during rutting season.
- Whitetail Deer have habitual eating patterns. As long as food is available, they will feed in the same areas every day. They often create well-worn paths leading to their feeding areas.
- During the warmer seasons, they will feed mainly on green vegetation.
- Whitetail Deer are great communicators. When nervous or alarmed, they will stomp, snort and flag other deer by showing the underside of their white tails. It’s important not to startle any deer during your Whitetail Deer hunting trip. They can clear an entire area by signalling distress to other deer.
It’s important to thoroughly plan your hunting trip beforehand.
